First of all, let me tell you why I'm making this page. This page is to thank Kirsten for always being such a great friend and well, for being herself! Kirsten, you rock, and I'm glad we became friends.
Kirsten and I weren't always friends, nor did we meet in the usual way that friends meet. When I was in 6th grade, and Kirsten in 5th, she found my name in a horse magazine in a pen pal ad. Good old Kirsten took it upon herself to write to me. I wrote her back and in this way we began our friendship. Never in my dreams would i have imagined we would ever be as close as we are today. I would honestly consider her my best friend even though we live severl hundred miles apart.
Ok, ok, so I bet you're asking why she's my best friend, and how come this pen pal all of a sudden is my best friend. Well, Kirsten and I soon found out that we had similar intrests, and we wanted to meet each other. It just so happens that a horse camp i was attending was pretty close to where she lives. So we arranged to meet there. We only met for several hours, and this was the summer after my freshman year.
Ok, so you're still wondering why we're such great friends? The next summer (after my sophmore year) I invited Kirsten down to Santa Cruz to visit me for the 4th of July weekend. I believe she was here for 3 days and 2 nights. We learned a lot about eachother in that time. At this point I still wouldn't consider her my best friend, but we were getting closer and closer all the time. Soon after this, we both started e-mailing eachother daily as well as snail mailng. This enabled us to get involved in eachothers lives. Now I think we tell eachother everything, and certinally help eachother out solving typical teenage problems. One night I was doing laundry, and I had e-mailed her earlier that day telling her how lousy things were going, and before I knew it she called me up on the phone and we discussed life for about 2 hours. This summer I'm going up to Willits to visit her in her hometown for a week and a half. And I can only hope things will continue to go as smoothly as they have been goin be tween us.
