Hi, and welcome. This page finally has some pictures on it!!! I have just organized them all so it's easier to view. For your information here's a list of my PR's from when I was a sophmore.(Since the last time I competed I was a Soph. I've been out with hip injuries for the past year) 400m-66.1, 800m-2:27.1, 1600m-5:35.8, 3200m-12:35.0, 5-K-20:19, 10-K-44:50. So..I know you're all dying to know my story...Well, I always seem to be injured...no matter what. And it's quite frustrating, because as soon as I start doing well, I get injured. So- I had a good soph. XC season, and I gained a lot of mental toughness by the end of it...even though the season resulted in knee troubles. By track season I was fully recovered, and I trained during the off season in preperation for a glorious indoor track meet in Idaho during Feburary. I had a great track season, again ending in injury. I took some time off, then began building a base for XC in the fall. I ended my summer on the east coast training at Dartmouth. I was ready for a great JR year. I was racing in top form- running good times...I even got in a trip to Utah to run in the Murray Invite on my birthday.(ran my PR of 20:19 in the pouring rain). Oct. 16th 1997 will be a day I will never forget. I went down with serious hip pain- I felt a tearing on both sides. Turns out I partially tore muscles (rectus femerus and sartorias(sp?) ). I was on crutches for about 2 1/2 weeks. I began my years worth of physical therapy...and saw all sorts of doctors. This was a major change in my life. I went from being in the best shape of my life to not being able to do anything physical. I was supposed to run that indoor meet in Idaho again, but it was out of the question. Around March the doctors gave me the go ahead to start running.(I had been aqua jogging for the past 2 months). SLOWLY I progressed, from a 10 minute mile down to a 6:04 timed mile. By mid April my doctors gave me the go-ahead to compete (not TOO competatively) in the 3200m. So I did...and had much more success than I thought. I finished the season, running a 12:54 to place 4th at the SCCAL meet. But my hips still hurt-as they do right now, as I'm writing this Nov. 9 '98. Doctors suggested more time off-which only worsened things b/c I lost any muscle I had gained. We came up with the solution to have me cross train 4 days a week and just run for the races this XC season. Which has been pretty successful. My times haven't been great- but not bad for what I've been through. I have one more meet- since my team qualified for CCS, which is next weekend. My plans for the off season, is to cross train like heck, and be healthy for my SR track season. Thanks for reading my story- now here's the pictures to go with it.
